NCFE Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment qualification (QCF) are designed for people wanting to assess qualifications.
There are two units to complete, each carries a number of credits. You do not need to complete all units, but we recommend that you do complete them all to ensure you are fully qualified:
Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)- does not require practical
Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the work environment (6 credits)- requires practical
Units 1 and 2 combine to make the
Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment qualification
This combination is great for those who are assessing NVQ-type qualifications, which are carried out in real work environments with candidates performing their everyday tasks and duties. This is also appropriate for those who may wish in future to assess in a work environment. This may include tasks such as staff appraisals, the normal assessment method for this will be direct observations.
The first module is assessed by questions. Once you have completed unit one you will then complete practical sessions with real life candidates, fully supported by your personal mentor. This will involve planning with candidates work to complete, giving them feedback, carrying out observations, setting questions and assignments and helping them gather evidence that meets the required standards.
When you feel confident with your candidates, your personal mentor will carry out a series of observations and discussions with you to ensure your assessing practice and knowledge meets the required standard. This is not a pass/fail exercise so if you do not meet the standards, your personal mentor will explain why and reassess you until you are! We want you to be successful so we will support you until you are competent!
Please note that there is an overlap between the knowledge unit (unit one) for this qualification and the Principles and Practices of Assessment in the CTLLS qualification.
Cost: Our training courses are competitively priced and we aim to beat any equivalent training quote.
